Winter is here... Astrophotography?

So as winter is here I wanted to try my hand at something a little different.

Astronomy has always been a love of mine so what better way to branch out?

After a week of rain and clouds I finally got a clear night last night.

I'm fairly happy for a first attempt but a 79% illuminated moon won't help things.
