Day 5 was a bit strange.
I had intended to continue my trip through southern Belgium visiting the towns of Mons and Tournai, before heading back to Ghent to see, my now recovering friend.
However, everywhere I drove, I seemed to run into police road closures. I can only think there was some sort of bike race on.
I did manage to get some of my visits ticked off though.
First stop was the lakes / reservoirs at Eau d'Heure.
Quite peaceful given it was after the holiday season. Also found a lovely little place for lunch over looking a small marina. Highlight of which, was a boat leaving to the sound of "Blue" by Eiffel 65.
One lovey Burger later, I tired to head to Mons but after getting turned around and lost I decided to cut my losses and head to Ghent. Spend some time there before a long overdue catch up.
Day 5, while not much done, was still a good day for getting miles under me. Last miles of the day were taken up by the run back to Calais for the trip home in the morning.
I'll add Day 6 on to the end here as there isn't too much to tell. Breakfast > Ferry > suffer the M25 > M4 all the way back to Wales.
