Belgium Road Trip - Day 1 & 2

Updated: Sep 8, 2023

I'm a bit late in getting this up.

Back in Oct last year I got on the road and went to check out some of the best part of Belgium. 4 days of driving hitting loads of Belgium and even a bit of Luxembourg and France.

Day one was pretty much all motorway miles. There isn't much to talk about here. Living in South Wales, Dover is a bit of a trek. In fact it takes longer to get to Dover, than it is from Calais to my first stop, Ghent.

371 Miles, about 10 hours and I've arrived in Ghent.

Unfortunately I've had to make some last minute changes to this plan. I was due to meet up with a friend at this point. However, they got hit with Covid, and we postponed that until later in the trip.

I decided to split the trip up a little and make the best of it.

So with that, I've made it to Belgium.

Nicely tucked away under the hotel

However, that does negate a few things.

Before the trip I had the clutch changed, and being the petrol head that I am, I went with a Solid, Lightened Fly and Clutch. That's all just fine.

I did get a bit of a moment on the Highway in France though...

I thought I must have lost the front splitter, maybe broke it on the Ferry but that wasn't the case. Seems one of the small undercovers, under the gearbox broke away. I had to drag it from Calais to Oostende before I could check on it.

No harm done, just some plastic cover and a very nice garage (AGK De Geyter) sorted it all out for free for me the next morning.

Not sponsored, just credit where it's due!

Day 2

There isn't too much to say for Day 2, so I'll add it here.

With my friend unwell (but recovering well). I took some time to explore Ghent for a bit and take it easy.
